Band Sizes & Lineups
What band sizes do you offer, and what's the difference?
Every configuration builds on the one before it — more lead vocals, more horns, and more texture as you go up:
- 5-Piece (Signature): male lead singer, female lead singer, drums, guitar, and bass. A full, high-energy sound built for a packed dance floor.
- 8-Piece (Most Popular): everything above plus a third lead singer, keys, and saxophone.
- 10-Piece (Ultimate): everything above plus trumpet and trombone, completing a three-piece horn section.
- 14-Piece (Luxury): four lead vocalists, a full horn section, keys, and an expanded rhythm section — built for large rooms and high guest counts.
- 18-Piece (Showstopper): four lead vocalists, a complete horn section, strings, and a fully expanded rhythm section. Our largest ensemble.
- The Collective (Live Band + DJ): DJ, drums, guitar, violin, a three-piece horn section, and a lead vocalist — moving seamlessly between live band and DJ energy all night.
Custom options include the 6-piece (5-piece plus keys OR sax), 9-piece (8-piece plus trumpet OR violin), and 11-piece (10-piece plus violin OR tenor sax).
How do I choose the right band size?
As the band grows you gain lead vocalists (two, then three, then four), a fuller horn section, and added texture from keys, strings, and percussion — which means more stage presence and more sound for a larger room. Your band leader will recommend a configuration based on your venue, guest count, and the energy you're after.
Wedding Packages: Signature vs. Luxury
What is the difference between Signature Weddings and Luxury Weddings?
Both deliver the same Lost Wax energy, the same planning process, and a professional MC. The difference is ensemble size and production scale.
- Signature Weddings: our core wedding experience, built on the 5, 8, and 10-piece lineups (and The Collective). Includes full backline, live music, MC duties, a sound engineer, setup and teardown, a curated song list, sound production, and timeline coordination.
- Luxury Weddings: our full-scale production experience, built on the 10, 14, and 18-piece ensembles. Larger vocal and horn sections, strings, and complete event production — custom lighting design, staging, and elevated sound — for black-tie weddings and marquee celebrations.
What is included with every wedding package?
Full backline, live music, MC and announcement duties, a dedicated sound engineer, setup and teardown, a curated song list, sound production, and timeline coordination.
Does it cost extra for the band to play at my ceremony?
Yes, there is an additional fee of $100 per musician to play for the ceremony if it's at the same venue as your reception. You can also add musicians who aren't in your reception band, such as a violinist or cellist. Pricing varies, so please request a quote.
Will the band provide a microphone for my ceremony, and does it cost extra?
Yes, we can provide sound for an additional charge. If your ceremony is at a different location than the reception altogether, we can still provide sound equipment but cost is going to vary depending on what is needed.
Can some of the band play for cocktail hour?
Absolutely. We offer several cocktail hour options tailored to your band size, at no additional charge — even if the setup is in a different room from the main band. Popular choices are acoustic guitar (with or without vocals), piano, saxophone, piano and saxophone, or piano, saxophone, and vocalist.
Corporate & Private Events
Do you perform for corporate events?
Yes. We perform for company parties, galas, conferences, brand activations, holiday parties, and private celebrations nationwide. Lost Wax served as the Official NFL Draft House Band in 2023, has performed on the 2026 FIFA World Cup stage, and has been featured on HBO/Max's Magnolia Network, ESPN, and People.
What size corporate event can you handle?
Any size — from an intimate company party to a main-stage production. Band size and production scale to the room, so the same team that plays a 100-person holiday party can deliver an 18-piece show with full production for a headline event.
Can you handle award shows, walk-ons, and custom program moments?
Yes. Our MC handles announcements, walk-on music, and program cues, and we build the show around your run-of-show so every transition lands on time.
What are some of the largest shows Lost Wax has performed?
Alongside weddings and private events, Lost Wax performs on large-scale public and broadcast stages:
- Official NFL Draft House Band (2023)
- 2026 FIFA World Cup Fanfest Headliner
- HBO/Max Magnolia Network — house band for the “Second Chance Stage”
- Texas Tech University
- Featured on ESPN and People
What awards has Lost Wax won?
- The Knot Hall of Fame
- Perfect 5-star rating on both Google and The Knot
Performance, Timing & Logistics
How long will the band play?
The band is available for the entire duration of your event, ensuring continuous entertainment without time constraints. Typically the dance party set runs 2 to 3 hours, providing an ideal balance of energy and enjoyment.
How many breaks does the band take?
During the dance party set, the band takes a 15-minute break for every 60 to 75 minutes of performance. The band also requires a dinner break, which usually coincides with the dining portion of your event.
Does the band include an MC?
Yes. All of our bands include a professional MC who handles all announcements, including your grand entrance and toast introductions.
Does the band provide microphones for toasts?
Absolutely.
What does the band wear?
Lost Wax's signature colors are black and white. Band members wear all black with white accents: men in black pants and button-up shirts with a jacket, vest, or tie, and women in a black dress or jumpsuit. Everyone completes the look with white Adidas featuring three black stripes. If your event is black tie or black tie optional, let us know and the band will adjust their attire accordingly.
Will the band learn new songs for our event?
Yes. The band is happy to learn up to three new songs for your event. If the band leader feels a requested song may not align with Lost Wax's strengths, they'll suggest alternative ways to incorporate it.
Where can I see your song list?
Our full song list is organized by genre on our website, covering six decades of Pop, Rock, Hip-Hop, R&B, Country, and more — plus our original mashups and specialty sets for holidays, mitzvahs, birthdays, and New Year's Eve.
Lighting, Sound & Production
Does the band come with lights?
Yes. The band includes bar lights that illuminate the performers, adding color and enhancing the visual experience for your guests. We can also create a fully customized lighting scheme tailored to your event.
Can I get a stage and dance floor from you?
Yes.
Who handles your production, and what can you provide?
Our production partner is Monarch Production Group, a full-service audio, lighting, and video company. Together we deliver concert-grade sound, designed lighting — from ambient uplighting and pinspots to custom gobo monograms and time-coded show lighting — plus LED walls, projection, multi-camera IMAG, and streaming. For high-end events, Monarch builds fully custom production: custom stages, LED sculpture, immersive lighting, and show control engineered around your venue. Available individually, in bundles, or as a fully custom quote.
Booking, Payment & Planning
What happens after I submit an inquiry?
Submit the inquiry form for the band size you're considering and our team will follow up within 24 hours with availability, package options, and next steps.
What is the deposit and payment schedule?
A 50% deposit is due at booking, with the remaining balance due 7 days prior to your event. If you add anything after the booking deposit is paid — stage, lighting, an additional musician — no additional deposit is required.
Are there any additional fees or taxes added to the price of the band?
No. There are no additional costs beyond the band's quoted price.
What is the process for selecting music?
Approximately two months before your event you'll have a Zoom meeting with your band leader to review the entire timeline and discuss announcements, music, and logistics. Three months prior, you'll receive a reminder email with a checklist of items to finalize before that meeting. Sending a playlist or list of preferred songs and artists in advance is helpful but not required.
Do you travel outside of Kansas City?
Yes. Lost Wax is headquartered in Kansas City and performs across the United States every week, bringing world-class entertainment to weddings, corporate events, galas, and festivals coast to coast.
