In the heart of a city where the lights never dim and the music never stops, American jazz vocalist Eboni Fondren found a home away from home. This soulful singer unearthed her passion for jazz in the twilight of her college years. Later, she took Paris by storm, leaving an indelible mark on its vibrant music scene. So, jazz aficionados, wanderlust-filled travelers, and everyone in between—rejoice as we recount Eboni Fondren's journey through the City of Light.
In the beginning, Eboni didn’t hone her craft under the tutelage of seasoned instructors or within the walls of conservatories. Instead, it blossomed on-stage, flowering in sync with the spontaneous riffs of jazz improvisation. Still, her late discovery did little to quench her burning desire for jazz singing. Then a serendipitous invitation from trumpet maestro Hermon Mehari became her call to Paris. There, the jam sessions were ripe with potential for a voice like hers.

Resilience, Post-Pandemic
Eboni's determination didn't waver as she reconnected with pianist Laurent Marode. Dubbing herself an "International Jazz singer," she soon saw her calendar dotted with 14 gigs across the city and Parisian suburbs. That run was a testament to her tenacity and talent.
The Parisian Stage
For the duration of the gigs, Eboni moved into her Parisian haven. There, she rubbed shoulders with full-time local musicians. She even recorded an album with a 9-piece jazz ensemble in a breathtakingly brief one-day session. Living the musician's dream, she drew in audiences—sprightly, young, and fervently in love with the American jazz spirit. Nights at venues like Caveau de la Huchette often started with lines wrapped around the corner. By the end, the authentic flair of this American artist mesmerized a standing-room-only crowd.
A Style That Speaks
Eboni's renditions, deeply rooted in her DNA, shimmered against the Parisian backdrop. Indeed, her innate talent set her apart, a siren call to those who understand the language of jazz. She also led a masterclass with 10 eager students. It showcased her unique approach to song interpretation and her intimate connection with every listener.

Looking ahead, Eboni envisions an album release in Paris. After that, she hopes for a European tour that stretches far beyond French borders. Her aspiration soars high.
