Lizzo Boys (Macklemore, Chic, J. Timberlake)

Lizzo Boys is an animated Lost Wax mashup built around “Boys” by Lizzo. First, the vocalists trade verses on Lizzo’s hit. Then the band blends in Macklemore, Chic, Justin Timberlake, Timbaland and Billie Eilish. In addition, the video features animation by Nick Agderian and green screen work by StageportKC. Below, you can also see every singer who performed.

Inside the Video

First, count the voices. In total, 14 lead vocalists take a turn on this track. Meanwhile, Patrick Woolam plays guitar throughout. On top of that, Nick Agderian’s animation brings the performance to life in a whole new way. In addition, Jon Trozzolo of StageportKC handled the green screen work. Then Chris Davis wrote and produced the music, and Rob Rebeck mixed it. Finally, Jimmy Lopez guided the creative direction.

Why the Mashup Works

Above all, this video shows what Lost Wax does best. After all, the group is the original Mashup Party Band, with tracks spanning six decades of Pop, Rock, Hip Hop and R&B. As a result, Lizzo’s “Boys” blends with Macklemore, Chic, Justin Timberlake and Timbaland. Besides those artists, the mix also nods to Billie Eilish, Human League and Stevie Ray Vaughan. In other words, there’s something for every music fan. Similarly, the band brings that same approach to weddings, corporate events and private parties.
