The Hybrid Format

A Seamless Blend of DJ and Live Band

The Collective is built around a simple idea: never let the energy drop. For example, a DJ set bridges seamlessly into a full live band moment. As a result, the move from a cocktail hour playlist to a horn-driven live mashup feels like one continuous show. In other words, you get one seamless performance instead of two separate acts. Meanwhile, drums, guitar, violin, a three-piece horn section, and a lead vocalist trade off with the DJ throughout the night. That way, the sound stays layered and the dance floor keeps moving.

Like every Lost Wax lineup, The Collective draws from six decades of Pop, Rock, Hip-Hop, and R&B. However, the band reworks those hits into live mashups rather than straight covers. Based in Kansas City and touring nationally, Lost Wax also brings the same credentials to this hybrid format as its other lineups. These include the 2023 NFL Draft House Band selection, 2025 Wed KC Band of the Year, and 2025 Best of KC Wedding Band.
