BOYS by Lizzo Mashup – Live at the Midland

Lost Wax recorded this Lizzo mashup live at the Midland Theatre in Kansas City. First, the band kicks off with “Boys” by Lizzo. Then the vocalists and horns weave in Macklemore, Chic, Justin Timberlake, Timbaland and more. As a result, decades of hits blend into one nonstop performance. Below, you can also see the full list of musicians who made it happen.

Inside the Performance

First, take a look at the size of this lineup. In total, 27 musicians and vocalists share the Midland Theatre stage. For example, two drummers lock in the groove together. Meanwhile, a bassist, three keyboard players and four guitarists fill out the sound. On top of that, a six-piece horn section of saxophones, trumpets and trombones adds extra punch. Then 11 lead vocalists trade the mic, so each song gets its own voice.

In addition, Chris Davis wrote the music and produced the track. After that, Rob Rebeck mixed it. Finally, Paradise Productions captured the audio and video, so the energy of the night comes through on screen.

Why the Mashup Works

Above all, this video shows what Lost Wax does best. After all, the group is the original Mashup Party Band, with tracks spanning six decades of Pop, Rock, Hip Hop and R&B. As a result, a Lizzo anthem sits right next to classics from Chic and Human League. Besides those artists, the mix also nods to Stevie Ray Vaughan, Billie Eilish and even Will Ferrell and Chris Kattan. In other words, the crowd never waits long for a song they love. Similarly, the band brings that same nonstop approach to weddings, corporate events and private parties.
